2025, The first one
November 2025 / A local hall in Langley
The first night
It was at a local hall, and I had never done anything like this before, which you will be able to tell from the following list. I didn't book enough setup time. I bought far too much alcohol, an amount I can only describe as optimistic. The sound system we rented didn't work, which at a comedy show is a bit like renting a pool and finding out it's mostly a hole. And I had to turn people away at the door because of the capacity on my licence, which is the only problem on this list I would happily have again. It was hellish. But with the help of my friends and family, we opened on time with everything we intended, and then it flowed perfectly, as if every hour I had spent panicking was exactly the right amount of panic.

On the night
Performing at it was a rush. I was nervous, obviously. Nervous in the way where you check your pocket for your keys four times and you are not going anywhere. But I enjoyed every second of it. I felt so loved and supported. I genuinely cannot believe how many people showed up for something that, on paper, could have gone so poorly.
I left my grandma at home, because it was a bit crass for her, and I stand by that decision. My grandpa came, and he loved it. After the show I could see tears in his eyes, because he was so proud, and that was the best moment of the whole night. Better than any laugh. And I really, really like laughs.
